Pool builders & resurfacers in Burleigh Heads.
Burleigh is two pool markets in one suburb. Beachside (between James Street and the ocean) is original 1970s-90s pool stock now overdue for resurfacing. Burleigh Hill and the West Burleigh modernist new-build wave is all premium freeform concrete with full-tile interior and infinity-edge over the headland or the creek.
The Burleigh Heads pool story.
Burleigh Hill = freeform concrete with a view.
Burleigh Hill rebuilds (2010s onwards) are some of the highest-spec residential pool projects on the entire Gold Coast. Architect-designed houses on north-east-facing slope blocks looking out over Tallebudgera Creek or the headland. Pools are freeform concrete with full mosaic-tile interior, dark glass-mosaic accent walls, fully-frameless glass fencing for unobstructed view, and increasingly an infinity edge or knife-edge weir to extend the visual line into the landscape. Budgets run $150K-$400K for the pool alone before deck, surround and cabana.
Beachside Burleigh = resurface territory.
The original Burleigh beachside grid (between Goodwin Terrace, Park Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway) was developed 1960s-80s. Pools added 1975-1995 are now 30-50 years old. Most have been resurfaced once already; many are due for a second pebble→quartz refit OR a full structural assessment to decide resurface-vs-rebuild. We do that assessment honestly - if the rebar is going, we’ll tell you. If it’s sound, you save $60K by resurfacing instead of rebuilding.
Character / heritage overlay considerations.
Parts of Burleigh Heads sit in a Burleigh Hill Local Character Area and small parts touch a Heritage Overlay (older queenslander stock along James Street area). Pools themselves are exempt from heritage assessment, but the surrounding paving, fencing, and any pool cabana need to match the character - no harsh-edge modernist surrounds on a pre-1950 cottage. City of Gold Coast planning officer will flag this at certification if missed. We design with the existing architectural language in mind.
